The International Programmes office coordinates Rothamsted’s international research collaborations. Where we have relationships in countries that involve multiple organisations across several disciplines we will typically establish a ‘centre’ to act as a coordinating mechanism under which to manage and leverage activities. Where relationships are with individual organisations or restricted to one or two Rothamsted research groups a simpler institute-institute agreement will normally suffice as a governance mechanism.
We currently have collaborations in the following countries:
We have a long history of collaboration in China involving many of China’s leading research organisations.
We are currently consolidating our collaborations in India through activities such as the Indo-UK Centre for the Improvement of Nitrogen use Efficiency in Wheat (INEW).
We have a long history of successful collaboration in Brazil and have recently consolidated our interactions with Embrapa under the banner of the ASA.
We are working towards establishing a centre with partners in Kenya and towards expanding our research activities in East Africa, particularly in the areas of Chemical ecology, soil science and crop nutrition.
We are currently in the process of developing links with The Philippines.
