The South East England Soil Discussion Group (SEESOIL) is holding an event at the Harpenden site of Rothamsted Research which is open to members and non-members.

We will gather at the Rothamsted Conference Centre, and will start the day with a visit to some of the long-term experiments, including Broadbalk, the longest running agricultural experiment in the world (180 years). We will then have a guided tour of our soils archive, followed by lunch at the site restaurant.

After lunch, we will have a demonstration of various soil sensors used to monitor soil carbon, soil moisture and greenhouse gas fluxes. After the demo we will wrap up the visit with a discussion facilitated by Rothamsted researchers on topics of relevance to the region, including carbon farming, climate-smart agriculture and soil health.

Food and drink will be provided. [Please ensure to outline any dietary or accessibility requirements on the registration form].
