Biography

Chris is an entomologist with considerable expertise and an interest in the long-term population dynamics of insects. He uses the data and samples held by the Rothamsted Insect Survey to characterise the effects of landscape and climate change on the insect fauna of the UK, and to identify drivers of insect phenology and abundance to forecast pest outbreaks. Chris co-ordinates the light-trap network and leads projects associated with moths and the non-aphid fraction of the suction-trap samples. He completed his PhD on the spatio-temporal dynamics of pollen beetles with the University of Reading in 2021.
