The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Sustainable Soils and Crops
George is interested in the interactions between micro-organisms through the production of secondary metabolites. His current work focuses on the interactions between antagonistic bacteria and the wheat fungal pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici, bioprospecting microbial collections for novel natural chemistry that could be utilised for future crop protection. George's work combines computational approaches with microbiology, synthetic biology, and natural product chemistry as part of the Growing Health Institute Strategic Programme funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council of the United Kingdom.
