Dr Mollie Langdon

Seed Developmental Biologist - Post-doctoral Research Scientist

Plant Sciences for the Bioeconomy

Biography

Mollie is a Post-Doctoral Seed Developmental Biologist investigating the control of seed size and seed number in oilseeds. She is using developmental, transcriptomic, and genetic approaches to identify and characterise genes that control seed number and/or size, to ultimately discover novel methods to increase seed yields of oilseeds.

Mollie completed her PhD at the University of Bath and Rothamsted Research in 2023, where she was researching techniques to alter seed yields in Arabidopsis thaliana and Brassica oleracea by modulating seed number and seed size respectively. She also obtained a BSc (Hons) in Biology from the University of Bath in 2018. Mollie’s interests include developmental biology, molecular biology, microscopy, and agricultural applications.

PhD Projects

  • PhD project: Increasing seed yields by the targeted modulation of brassinosteroids

Awards
