Plant Sciences for the Bioeconomy
Vladimir is head of the Rothamsted Crop Transformation and Genome Editing Unit. He is a recognised leader in the development and application of the genome editing technology (CRISPR/Cas) as a tool for gene function studies and improvement of agriculturally important crop traits, publishing his original report on the topic in Nature Biotechnology in 2013 (Nature Biotechnology 31: 691-3). He has extensive experience in applying the CRISPR/Cas technology in wheat and other crops. He is named a co-Investigator on the Delivering Sustainable Wheat (DSW) Institute Strategic Programme. Recently he reported on a highly flexible modular cloning toolkit for genome editing applications in cereals (Springer Protocols Handbooks, 2022). Vladimir was invited by the Nuffield Council on Bioethics (UK) to take part in preparation of the “GENOME EDITING: an ethical review” report.
