The big picture: using wildflower strips for pest control
Net Zero and Resilient Farming
Yafei specializes in various aspects of soil science and greenhouse gas emissions, including soil physics, soil chemistry, soil biogeochemistry, soil earthworm, and plant-soil interactions. One of his research projects was focused on the impact of earthworms on soil structure formation and soil organic carbon turnover under conservation tillage. Another project was investigating the mitigation of carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide emissions from soil, exploring the effects of nitrification inhibitors, environmental factors, soil characteristics, and biogas residue acidification. Additionally, he was studying the influence of grass and oak on soil, plant, and air interactions under future climate change scenarios. Overall, Yafei's research aims to evaluate and promote soil health by increasing carbon and nitrogen storage while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
